Blood Sap: A Manifesto of Love and Fight from Amazon Communities

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the forest and the plight of its people in this powerful audio-visual commission created by three Braziliian artists Maihara Marjorie, Thiago Duar and Watatakalu Yawalapiti.

On 7 April 2022, thousands of indigenous peoples from 200 peoples across Brazil marched in the Acampamento Terra Livre to fight for their lives; the natural resources of their land and the sovereignty of the Brazilian peoples.

Presented at Second Home in London, Lisbon and Los Angeles, this audio-visual installation tells the story of the forest and the fight through Watatakalu Yawalapiti, the leader of the Yawalapiti people and the women's movement from the indigenous land of Xingu.

This is a manifesto on the importance of preservation through the traditions of the land's ancestors.

#indigenisethepolitics

In the Summer of 2022, British journalist Dom Phillips and indigenous expert Bruno Pereira were brutally murdered in the Amazon for investigating an undeclared war on nature.

Across London,  Lisbon and Los Angeles there were conversations hosted by friends, colleagues and indigenous activists to discuss why - in their honour - we must indigenise the politics that govern Amazonia and prevent the world's most important ecosystem from being ransacked.
